What do Allied Health Assistants Do?

As an integral part of The Do Network, our Allied Health Assistants work alongside therapists to support your care.

Their tasks may include:

  • Delivering therapy

  • Developing resources

  • Sourcing equipment

  • Implementing a program

  • Information gathering

Your AHA always works under the guidance and direction of your therapist. Your therapist will seek your consent before engaging an AHA to assist with tasks.

AHAs are charged at a lower rate to therapists, as per NDIS guidelines. Where we are looking to engage an AHA for blocks of therapy intervention we will ask you to confirm the arrangement via a Service Agreement.

Professionally Trained Allied Health Assistant with Occupational Therapy

Within The Do Network, our Allied Health Assistants work as direct support for therapists as part of our multidisciplinary team. Their key role helps us to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each client’s therapeutic goals. They are responsible for providing client support and care which can include the implementation of individual and group interventions or therapy programs, as delegated by the treating OT therapists.

An allied health assistant may also be responsible for administrative and clinical support functions. This role can assist with efficient client management and contribute to the effectiveness of therapy.

Benefits of Using Allied Health Assistants

At The Do Network our NDIS approved allied health assistants work alongside clients and their referrers to provide innovative therapeutic services and to help with everyday activities that people do as individuals, in families and within their communities.

Our assistants look at what holds clients back from accomplishing their everyday goals. They break down the process to build their skills and facilitate the steps required to achieve these goals and help them make positive changes in their lives.

We embrace a holistic approach to allied health support. Our allied health assistants work alongside our occupational therapists, psychologists and other health supports to help our clients achieve the best outcomes.

We value your right to choice and control. Our team will work with clients and their loved ones to find the right allied health assistant for their individual needs. We value quality service delivery and open, transparent communication. We guarantee to make every effort in supporting you through the therapeutic journey, navigating the NDIS and advocating on your behalf.

Why Choose Our NDIS Approved Allied Health Assistants

An allied health assistant can be a practical and cost-effective option for building your support. They can attend appointments more frequently, making sure that the therapy plan is followed through as the occupational therapist intended. With allied health assistant visits the duration of support can be extended as the cost to your plan is considerably less than a therapist
